Ryder Qualifying Europe Team  – The European Points List

There are two ways for European golfers to qualify for the Ryder Cup team. On the one hand, the pros can distinguish themselves through an outstanding performance on the DP World Tour (Formerly European Tour) secure a place, or via their world ranking points and thus also in tournaments on the PGA Tour. The race for the coveted points has started since the BMW PGA Championship 2022 and the best six players, combined from both lists, will secure their place in the competition of giants in 2023. The places outside the top 6 are also quite interesting, as the captains of the two teams often orientate themselves for the awarding of the six wild cards on the current rankings.

Ryder Cup Qualifying Team USA

The Americans have been awarding points for the Ryder Cup ranking since the beginning of 2022. As a result, players from the LIV Golf Series continue to be ranked even though they are not eligible for the Ryder Cup. The explanation was provided by the American team captain Zach Johnson in June 2022: “In order to be able to play on the Ryder Cup team, regardless of whether you are in the top six players or a pick, you have to have PGA of America Ryder Cup points collect,” explains Johnson. “To earn Ryder Cup points through the PGA of America, you have to be a member of the PGA of America. And we’re through that PGA Tourr members of the PGA of America.” This means that several potential Ryder Cup greats are eliminated. But apart from Johnson, Koepka and Co., the American rankings also feature some big names and major winners.
