Frenchman Matthieu Pavon punched an ace on the 15th hole with a picture-perfect shot and made the audience tremble. Pavon wrote US Open history with this shot on the 113-meter-long par 3 in round 1. Guarded by bunkers, the 15th green sits enthroned in the LA Country Club and is difficult to see. Matthieu Pavon wasn’t intimidated by this and placed a wonderful wedge shot just behind the pin. The pro’s back spin made the result perfect, the ball rolled straight into the hole.

Sam Burns also managed this miracle stroke in the LA Country Club in the afternoon. After Dustin Johnson had already placed his ball close to the pin, Burns unpacked an even better shot and also had his ball disappear into the hole with a good portion of back spin.
